I have been on both sides of this situation – trying to learn something new (or get better at that thing) and struggling to orient people to a team, due to my own presumption that they understand some of the subtleties of the work I do.
When you don’t document things you rely on cultural norms,
Which means you can’t attract people outside that culture,
Your culture remains homogenous.
When you dictate,
You’re a dictator,
Even if you say you’re not a dictator.
People don’t like dictators,
They tend to leave or revolt against them.
