The California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will conduct a test of the tsunami warning communications system on March 26.
Tsunami Awareness Week is from March 23 – March 29, 2014.
There will be two separate and distinct tests, the first at 10:15 AM PDT, in coastal areas of central and southern California, and the second between 11 AM and noon PDT, in Northern California.
- At about 10:15 a.m. NOAA’s National Weather Service Offices in Monterey, Oxnard and San Diego will broadcast the “Required Monthly Test.” The test will also be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, local television and radio stations. The actual Tsunami Warning Code (EAS code TSW) will not be used for this test.
