As thousands of firefighters from across the state battle the ferocious Rim Fire, which continues to consume acreage, jump containment lines and threaten numerous communities – emergency services personnel are engaged in intense planning and response strategy efforts at the Cal OES Northern Regional Operations Center.
“Staff here in the REOC are collecting, validating, and organizing emergency information related to the Rim Fire, such as fire movement, impacts to communities, sheltering needs, evacuation orders and needs assessments” said Al Lehenbauer, Director of Cal OES Northern Regional Operations Center. “ We are in constant communication with Tuolumne County EOC as well as local jurisdictions and response agencies to ensure resources are deployed and response planning and strategies are defined and implemented as quickly as possible to protect lives and property”.
